Ball models are a great way to get into the world of 3D graphics modeling. Of course, in 3D there are very different kinds of ball models.
For one thing, ball models are generally made of plastic, not metal. When you start to study ball models you are generally looking at three different types. First you have the ball itself. That is basically a sphere and you can either have it made of plastic or metal. Then you have the surface of the sphere. This is made of metal, and it is the surface that actually makes the ball bounce. Then you have the shell. That is the actual ball.
